Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester United on Thursday, just days after interim manager Cristian Stellini was dismissed from his role.

The Italian, who had succeeded his compatriot Antonio Conte in March, was sacked following Spurs’ dismal 6-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United on Sunday.

Ryan Mason, who had been part of the backroom staff under Conte, will now take charge of The Lilywhites for the remainder of the season.

The ex-Spurs midfielder faces a tough task, though, with his first two matches in charge set to be against United and Liverpool.

Now, though, it appears that Spurs and The Red Devils are set to battle it out off the pitch.

According to Football Insider, both clubs are preparing offers for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The Portugal international joined The Cottagers from Sporting Lisbon last summer and has so far enjoyed a superb debut season in England.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, and Spurs, United and Chelsea are all said to be plotting moves for the midfielder.

Palhinha has attracted interest from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea

Palhinha, 27, has made 34 appearances across all competitions so far this season, helping Fulham to currently sit ninth in the Premier League table.

It has previously been rumoured that Liverpool are also regularly scouting the Portuguese, with a view to potentially making a move for the player when the transfer window opens this summer.

When he signed for Fulham last summer, Palhinha penned a five-year contract that is set to run until 2027.

Considering the amount of interest that he has generated from elsewhere, though, it appears unlikely that he will remain at Craven Cottage until that date.

Palhinha was rumoured to have cost Fulham around £20 million last summer, although the west London outfit would expect to demand more than that figure if they were to sell him at the end of the season.
