Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign when they welcome Wolves to Old Trafford on Monday.

The Red Devils will be hoping to build on an impressive season last term, which culminated in a third-placed league finish and a Carabao Cup win.

Erik ten Hag impressed during his first season in charge, but the Dutchman will be hoping to mount a title challenge this time around.

United have added Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund to their ranks so far this summer, but it now appears that they are working on a fourth signing.

As per 90min, the Manchester outfit are negotiating with Bayern Munich in the hope of agreeing a deal to sign Benjamin Pavard.

The report claims that United are on the hunt for a replacement for Harry Maguire, who is expected to join West Ham United in the coming weeks.

Pavard is said to be a target for Manchester United

The two clubs have agreed a £30 million fee for the England international and the deal is expected to be completed soon, although progress has so far been slow.

Their search has identified a number of possible targets but Pavard, who can play as either a right-back or a central defender, is one of the club’s top targets.

Pavard, 27, joined Bayern from fellow German side Stuttgart back in 2019 and has since made 163 appearances for the club across all competitions.

His contract is set to expire next summer, though, and the Bundesliga champions could therefore be open to the prospect of selling the star during the current window.

Pavard was part of the France squad that lifted the World Cup in 2018 and has been capped 49 times by his country in total.

Other potential targets for United include Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Perr Schuurs, and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
