Manchester United travel to The City Ground to face struggling Nottingham Forest on Saturday, just days after capitulating against Sevilla in the Europa League. 

The Red Devils held a 2-0 lead inside the final ten minutes of their quarter-final first leg on Thursday, before two own goals drew the Spanish side level.

Erik ten Hag’s team now face a Forest side that are fighting against relegation from the top flight, and will undoubtedly provide United with a tough test.

In the meantime, it appears that one of the club’s youngsters is prepared to fight for a place in the first team next term.

Amad Diallo has been in fine form while on loan at Championship side Sunderland so far this term, and Fabrizio Romano claims that the winger is keen to be involved at Old Trafford next season.

Diallo, 20, has scored 12 goals in 33 second tier matches so far this tern, as well as providing two assists.

The Ivory Coast international has undoubtedly been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season, and the player himself hopes that his performances will have earned him a chance in the first team at United next term.

Diallo joined The Red Devils from Italian side Atalanta in January 2021, but made just three Premier League appearances during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

The following season, Diallo was sent on loan to Scottish side Rangers, where he made 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring three times.

He then returned to Old Trafford at the end of last season, before being sent to Sunderland last summer.

If he is involved with the first team at United next season, Diallo – who scored the winner for Sunderland against Birmingham City on Saturday – will have to compete with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho for a starting spot in Ten Hag’s side.
