Pre-season is well and truly underway at Old Trafford as Man United plan to launch a strong offensive on the Premier League and the Champions League next term.

Many of United’s stars dazzled at the European Championships, with the likes of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Paul Pogba all putting in fantastic performances for England and France respectively.

Last season was filled with many highs and lows as they exited the Champions League at the group stage, then went on to reach the Europa League final and even finished second in the Premier League.

Fans of the Red Devils are desperate for silverware, having not lifted a trophy since Jose Mourinho’s debut season at Old Trafford in 2017.

Jadon Sancho is expected to be confirmed within the coming days, while Raphael Varane is also claimed to be on the radar.

However, United are also currently undergoing a bit of housekeeping and, according to talkSPORT Brandon Williams’ expected loan spell to Southampton could be off.

Williams only made four Premier League appearances last season.

Williams, 20, was expected to join Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side for a season-long loan, but it’s claimed the move could be scuppered by the Red Devils’ wage demands.

Saints are desperately looking to replace Ryan Bertrand, who left at the end of last season, and Williams looked to be the perfect replacement.

It is believed United want around £2 million to loan him for the season, but his bulky wage demands could prove to be too much for Southampton.

Williams broke through in the 2019/20 season but was limited to just four appearances last term due to having both Luke Shaw and Alex Telles ahead of him in the pecking order.
