While their 4-2 home defeat to Liverpool illuminated many issues in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, the Norwegian can still reflect on a season well done.. for now.

Despite a horrendous start to the season with four defeats in their first six matches, including the embarrassing 6-1 home defeat to Spurs, Manchester United recovered and currently sit in second place with a Europa League final on the horizon.

A Champions League place for next season has already been secured, however, a final victory against Villarreal in Gdansk would secure Solskjaer’s first trophy as United manager, as well as the Red Devils’ first since 2017.

However, United still have an awful lot of ground to recover on rivals Manchester City, and many also believe a fully fit, functioning and firing Liverpool side will also be a huge threat next term.

According to reports from the Mirror, Manchester United have been given a huge boost in their desire to sign England star Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho was man of the match as BVB won the DFB-Pokal.

While Sancho’s teammate Erling Haaland has perhaps overtaken him as being one of the hottest properties in Europe, the England man has still enjoyed a productive campaign, scoring eight goals and recording 11 assists in 24 Bundesliga matches.

He also scored a brace and assisted another as Borussia Dortmund won the DFB Pokal on Thursday, beating RB Leipzig 4-1 in the final.

This has been a more than respectable return considering injuries have severely limited the winger’s playing time this season.

Manchester United have been chasing Sancho since Solskjaer was made permanent manager, but the Germans have been resolute in their stubbornness to part with the 21-year-old.

However, the Premier League side have been given a boost with Sancho now allegedly encouraging his agent to accelerate a summer move to Old Trafford.
