Matchweek 16 delivered yet another eventful round of Premier League football.

Five of the nine matches which took place were decided by a penalty kick with Brentford, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd all securing three points from 12 yards.

The top three extended their lead over the rest to eight points while, at the bottom, Norwich, Newcastle and Burnley remain in the bottom-three.

But who were the outstanding individuals in the top-flight across the latest round of fixtures?

Here we’ve selected our top 3 players in the Premier League from Matchweek 16…

3. Jorginho (Chelsea)

Jorginho held his nerve at Stamford Bridge.

After a run of just one win in the last three league matches, it was important for Chelsea to put three points on the board against Leeds. With the scores tied 2-2 deep in injury time, this already dramatic match seemed to be heading for a draw. But Antonio Rudiger was deemed to have been fouled for the second time in the penalty area to hand Jorginho the chance to win the game from the spot. The Italian made no mistake to covert cooly from 12 yards for the second time in the game and – most importantly – secure a vital win.

2. David de Gea (Man Utd)

De Gea was vital at Carrow Road.

The Man Utd ‘keeper dropped below his normal standards the past couple of seasons but now seems to be back to his brilliant best. De Gea played a key role in helping Ralf Rangnick secure a second win in two Premier League matches with a string of outstanding saves. The Spaniard denied the likes fo Teemu Puuki Ozan Kabak to keep a clean sheet as Cristiano Ronaldo converted a winning penalty at the other end.

1. Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace)

Gallagher is on loan at Palace from Chelsea.

It’s easy to see why Chelsea highly rate their young midfielder Conor Gallagher. The 21-year=old has been sensational since joining Crystal Palace on loan and added to his ever-growing reputation with a brace in the Eagles’ 3-1 win against Everton. The Englishman, who earned his first senior cap last month, followed up a smart first half finish with a second (and sixth of the season) to seal the victory late on.
