Sunday afternoon represented a new low for Manchester United’s current owners, as fans of the club descended on Old Trafford prior to their match against Liverpool, eventually causing the game to be postponed.

Hundreds of fans gathered outside the stadium prior to kick off, and a large number then gained access to the stadium itself and made their feelings known on the pitch, causing the game to be rearranged in the interests of safety.

Fans were protesting against the ownership of the Glazers, the mega rich family who have owned a 98% stake in the club since 2005.

The protests come in the wake of the controversial European Super League plans, with similar scenes seen outside the other five English clubs who had signed up to the concept.

However, it appears that the Glazers are now planning to sanction a big money move for one of the world’s best strikers, in an effort to calm mounting anger from fans.

Kane has recorded 31 goals and 16 assists this season.

The Sun is reporting that United will offer around £90m for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, with the England captain rumoured to be open to the prospect of a move.

The 27-year-old is still yet to win a major trophy and is now growing frustrated at Spurs, and will push for a move away this summer in search of silverware.

The Glazers are reluctant to sell up, despite supporters’ anger, and believe that a big money signing such as Kane could go someway towards resolving the issue.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has previously suggested that Kane will not be sold to a Premier League club, however the opportunity to cash in and improve the rest of the squad could prove too tempting.

Levy had slapped a £170m price tag on his star man, however the player’s age, combined with the impact of covid-19, would make it almost impossible for any club to meet that valuation.

Kane, who has been widely tipped to win the Premier League Player of the Year award, is currently under contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2024.
