According to Sky Sports journalist Jeremy Cooper, Manchester United will “wait for the summer” to splash the cash.

Reporting on Sky Sports News, Cooper said: “In terms of incomings, Manchester United will wait for the summer.

“They’ve got some big names on their transfer check-list, if you like.

“Not big names they can bring in in the winter but they’ve not got a big tradition of doing that in the past 10 years.

“The summer will be interesting business for United and United fans.

“Jose Mourinho is very happy with the numbers he’s dealing with on the training field.

“He’s let a couple go in Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin. I don’t think he’ll be bringing anyone in tomorrow.

“It’ll be interesting to see if Ashley Young situation sees move on. He’s currently training with United and he’s clearly someone who is well-liked in the dressing room.”

Despite news of a lack of incomings, Ashley Young could still depart Old Trafford, as speculation of a move to China remain.

United currently sit 6th in the league, four points off a Champions League spot and 14 behind runaway leaders Chelsea.

Mourinho’s side will bid to close the gap on their rivals with a home game against Hull City on Tuesday.
