Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Jamie Vardy’s contract negotiations with Leicester City very closely over the course of the January transfer window.
The 13-time Premier League champions, who defeated Swansea City 2-1 at the weekend, are interested in signing the England international striker following his sensational form this campaign.
The 28-year-old, who cost the Foxes £1m back in May 2012 from League One Fleetwood Town, has scored 15 league goals in 20 appearances for Claudio Ranieri’s surprise title contenders this season.
But with Vardy, who has four international caps for the Three Lions, not yet being offered improved terms on his £40,000-a-week contract at the King Power Stadium, Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils are ready to pounce for the in-form hitman if talks should break down later this month.
With fellow forwards Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial struggling to find the back of the net at Old Trafford this term, it is thought it would take around £30m for Leicester to part with star striker Vardy, although the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have also expressed an interest in the England forward.
