Man Utd set to get Rangnick after he ‘rejected’ first offer

Manchester United are reportedly set to appoint Ralf Rangnick as their new interim boss.

The German is preparing to sign a six-month deal at Old Trafford which would see him replace caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

Carrick, who guided the Red Devils to a 2-0 victory against Villarreal in his first match in charge, took the hot seat after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday.

Solskjaer paid the price for a poor start to the season.

Rangnick, according to the Manchester Evening News, is claimed to have rejected an offer from the Old Trafford club to lead the side on a temporary basis.

The German reportedly snubbed the Premier League giants before agreeing after they offered new terms.

Rangnick, 63, is expected to stay on at the club after the six months in a consultancy role.

The 63-year-old won’t be in charge of the trip to Chelsea on Sunday as he currently does not have a valid UK work permit.

United are also still in talks with Lokomotiv Moscow, where Rangnick, who has previously managed RB Leipzig, Schalke and Stuttgart, is currently the Head of Sports and Development.
