Manchester United have the opportunity to crown a rather productive season with a European trophy, after progressing to the Europa League final.

While Edison Cavani’s brace against Roma wasn’t enough to secure the Red Devils the victory on the night, it was enough to put the tie way beyond Roma and secure an 8-5 aggregate victory.

Since arriving at Old Trafford on a one-year deal in the summer, the Uruguayan has enjoyed a decent season in Manchester, scoring 14 goals in 34 appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

He has popped up with massive goals for The Red Devils, including a brace in both legs against Roma and two goals and an assist against Southampton, where United overturned a two goal deficit to win 3-2 in November.

It is unknown whether the former Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain hitman will remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of his one-year deal.

Either way, it is reported by the Express that United are also interested in signing Portugal international striker Andre Silva from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Silva would be a much cheaper alternative to Haaland.

It is believed United have identified the 25-year old striker as a cheaper alternative to Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who could allegedly cost up to £150 million.

Silva has enjoyed a fantastic season at the Deutsche Bank Park stadium, scoring 25 Bundesliga goals, the same amount of league strikes as Haaland.

As well as being equally prolific in Germany, he would only cost around a quarter of what the Norwegian striker would, as Frankfurt have allegedly put a £40m price tag on Silva’s head.
