Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the progress of Everton defender Brendan Galloway.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who slipped to third in the standings following their 3-0 defeat at Arsenal almost a fortnight ago, are closely following the youngster’s development at Goodison Park ahead of the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, has impressed in seven Premier League appearances for the Toffees so far this season in the absence of regular left-back Leighton Baines.

Having represented England from Under-17 to Under-19 level; Galloway only joined Everton from Milton Keynes Dons last summer for an undisclosed fee, before going onto make just two first-team appearances in his debut campaign.

But with United left-back Luke Shaw likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a double leg fracture in the UEFA Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven last month, Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is thought to be considering his defensive options ahead of the New Year period.
