Manchester City are reportedly becoming increasingly confident of landing Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to the Guardian.

The Premier League side, who finished third in the English top-flight last term, still 15 points adrift of eventual champions Chelsea, have been heavily linked with a mega-money move for the Arsenal striker ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 28-year-old, who has 114 international caps for his country and is currently starring with Chile at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia, scored 30 goals and provided 19 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners last season.

Sanchez, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium back in 2014 from La Liga giants FC Barcelona, has netted 72 goals in 144 games overall for Arsene Wenger’s side, lifting two FA Cups and two FA Community Shields.

However, the report suggests the Chilean superstar is set to depart North London this summer, with just a year left on his current Arsenal contract, with Sanchez eager to work with Citizens boss Pep Guardiola.

The forward would cost City around £50m, although Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be interested in his services.
