Manchester City could make a shock summer move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Spanish publication Sport.

The Premier League giants, who currently sit fourth in the standings and six points adrift of surprise league leaders Leicester City after their 3-1 home defeat to the Foxes last Saturday, have been linked with a move for the Spain international following the announcement as Pep Guardiola as the Citizens’ manager ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

The 34-year-old, who has 21 international caps for his country, has only made two first-team appearances for fierce rivals United since arriving from FC Barcelona back in January 2015.

In fact; the shot stopper is now currently on loan at Belgian outfit Standard Liege for six months.

The report suggests that incoming Man City boss Guardiola would like to bring his one-time Nou Camop favourite to the Etihad Stadium given their time together at Barcelona.

Valdes will be out of contract at Old Trafford this summer, meaning he will become a free agent.
