Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a £25 million summer move for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Incoming Citizens manager Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his new side’s defence when he moves to the Etihad at the end of the season, and is keen to sign the Italy international, who is also said to be interesting Chelsea should Antonio Conte be appointed as the club’s new boss in the summer.

Guardiola is a big fan of the 28-year-old, and with Juve willing to sell the Italy international if they get the right offer because of his age, a deal could be completed in the summer with the two-time Premier League champions ready to heavily back the Spaniard.

City fans remain unconvinced by Eliaqium Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi alongside the captain, Vincent Kompany, at the heart of the defence, and Bonucci, who has made more than 250 appearances for Juventus, certainly has the experience to make a difference.
