Manchester City are reportedly preparing a £40m raid for France youth international defender Lucas and Theo Hernandez, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who climbed up to second spot in the top-flight standings following Monday night’s 2-0 victory at AFC Bournemouth, have been linked with luring the Atletico Madrid siblings to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Centre-half Lucas, who turns 21 today and has five international caps for France’s Under-21 side, has provided one assist in 13 appearances in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side so far this season.

Meanwhile left-back Theo (Pictured), 19, is yet to make a first-team appearance for Atletico, but has assisted three strikes in 23 games in all competitions whilst on loan at Alaves this term.

The report suggests City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on the French duo, having scouted the brothers for the best part of six months, whilst the La Liga club could do business if they can agree a part-exchange deal to bring back former striker Sergio Aguero.
