Manchester City have ground to make up if they are to retain their Premier League crown this season, with Pep Guardiola’s side currently third in the top flight table.

City completed a remarkable treble last term – winning the League, Champions League and FA Cup – but currently sit two points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

Last time out, City were defeated 1-0 by Arsenal, with Gabriel Martinelli’s late strike enough to earn the Gunners a narrow win at The Emirates.

Guardiola will be hoping that his side improve when domestic football returns after the international break, but in the meantime it appears that the Spaniard could be eyeing a move for a Bundesliga star next summer.

As per 90min, City still hold an interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s best central midfielders in recent seasons, but his current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025 and his future beyond that date is therefore in doubt.

Kimmich remains a target for Manchester City

Kimmich is said to have told his current employers that he may not sign a contract extension, which prompted City to register their interest in the player over the summer, but the Bundesliga champions made it clear that he is not for sale.

The midfielder joined Bayern from fellow German side Stuttgart back in 2015 and has since made 358 appearances across all competitions.

He has also won no fewer than 19 trophies during his time in Bavaria, including ten consecutive Bundesliga titles, and the Champions League in 2020.

Kimmich is said to currently be considering his future and, if he does make it clear that he wants to leave, Bayern may be forced into selling the player during next summer’s transfer window in order to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires in 2025.

The Germany international worked under City boss Guardiola during his time at Bayern, and it appears that the Spaniard could be eyeing a reunion in Manchester.
