Manchester City striker Erling Haaland broke yet another record on Sunday, as he netted a hat-trick for the third consecutive home match.

The Norwegian scored his third Manchester City hat-trick in The Citizens’ 6-3 Manchester derby win, smashing the record for the fewest amount of games to reach three trebles.

Previously, that accolade was held by Michael Owen, who took 48 Premier League matches to score three hat-tricks, but Haaland has now managed it in just eight games.

The 22-year-old’s tally now stands at 17 goals in his last ten games for The Citizens, including 14 in eight league games.

While Haaland has been praised by supporters and pundits alike, it appears that he is now set to be rewarded by his current employers.

As reported by The Star, City are preparing to rip up the forward’s contract and offer him a new deal on higher wages.

Despite the fact that the striker already nets a reported £375-per-week, City could offer him a new deal at the end of this season.

Haaland has scored 14 goals in eight Premier League matches

The Norway international only signed his current contract over the summer, but a source from the club has indicated that he could soon be offered a new one as the Premier League champions look to keep their prized asset happy.

City are aware that other clubs often offer bigger basic salaries and are therefore keen to tie Halaand down to a big money long-term deal, as a reward for his superb start to life in Manchester.

It is claimed that City have previously done the same for Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias, who all impressed during their first seasons in England.

Several clubs were linked with Haaland prior to his announcement as a City player, and it has been rumoured that Real Madrid remain intent on making a move for the player in the summer of 2024.

The ex-Molde player boasts a remarkable scoring record throughout his short career to date, having scored 29 goals in 27 games for RB Salzburg and 86 times in 89 games for former side Borussia Dortmund.

Despite Haaland’s sensational form, City currently sit second in the Premier League table, a point behind leaders Arsenal who maintained their place at the top of the table by beating rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 on Saturday.
