Manchester City should snap up these 2 Arsenal stars this summer

Manchester City enter the final weekend of the Premier League season with their top four hopes very much in their own hands.

Pep Guardiola’s side are third in the division with 75 points from their 37 matches, and they have a three-point and six-goal cushion over Arsenal in fifth ahead of Sunday’s final round of fixtures.

The Citizens travel to Watford and Arsene Wenger’s Gunners host seventh place Everton, and baring a heavy defeat at Vicarage Road and a big Arsenal victory at the Emirates, Guardiola’s side will be playing in the Champions League next term.

Nonetheless, it still hasn’t quite been the season many City fans were hoping for when Guardiola took over in the summer, with the side failing to mount a serious title challenge, going out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage, and coming up short in both domestic cup competitions.

Thus, a big summer is needed at the Etihad Stadium, and the City boss may even look around the country when it comes to identifying transfer targets this summer.

And one rival he may look to raid is Arsenal, so here are TWO Gunners stars who City must try and land this summer…

Laurent Koscielny

Ultimately, City’s biggest issue this season has been their defensive woes, with centre-backs John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi both making high-profile errors, while the full-backs haven’t endeared themselves to Guardiola either.

Thus, that area needs seriously strengthening this season, and one man they have been loosely linked with in recent times is Laurent Koscielny, who has arguably been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League over the last few years.

The France international has been a constant in that Arsenal backline for a while now, and the two games against Bayern Munich this season, which saw the Gunners concede eight times when the 31-year-old went off the field, says it all about his significance and standing in this Arsenal team.

Marseille are also thought to be interested in Koscielny, but if Guardiola wants a proven Premier League defender who is also adept with the ball at his feet, the Gunners ace could be his man this summer.

Alexis Sanchez

The future of Arsenal’s main man Alexis Sanchez has been subject to speculation for a while now, and you sense that the closer we get to the summer without a new deal being agreed, the more likely it is that he’ll leave the Emirates.

And this is good news for one interested party, Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Citizens have repeatedly been linked with a move for the Chile international over the last few months, and given his remarkable season at Arsenal, in which time he has netted 28 times in all competitions, it’s not hard to see why.

And given that Sanchez and Guardiola worked together at Barcelona a few years ago, and to good effect, the City boss may be able to use that to his advantage in luring him away from North London this summer.
