Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino could rotate his squad for their Carabao Cup second round tie against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening.

The Argentine picked up his first win on Friday as the Blues cruised to a 3-0 win over Luton Town, and the arrival of the Dons at Stamford Bridge represents a good opportunity to continue their momentum.

Chelsea have made a number of new signings so far this summer, with several youngsters having arrived at the club.

A number of senior players also departed, though, including N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz.

The transfer window shuts on Friday evening, but it appears that Chelsea could be hoping to complete one more new signing before then and they may have been handed a huge boost.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City star Cole Palmer is open to the idea of joining Chelsea in the coming days.

Palmer is reportedly open to the idea of joining Chelsea this week

The Englishman has emerged as a surprise target for the Blues as they search for attacking reinforcements, and Romano claims that the player has said yes to the proposed switch.

Palmer, 21, is a product of City’s youth academy and has made 41 senior appearances for the club across all competitions.

He has faced stiff competition for playing time in recent seasons, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva all vying for places in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Romano claims that the two clubs are now in negotiations with a view to agreeing a deal, although the Citizens will reportedly demand as much as £45 million for the player.

Palmer has started the new season in fine form, scoring in both the Community Shield and the UEFA Super Cup.

He also made a substitute appearance during City’s Premier League opener against Burnley, but has since been an unused substitute against both Newcastle United and Sheffield United.
