Manchester City star Erling Haaland has signed a new nine-and-a-half year contract with the reigning Premier League champions.

City confirmed on Friday morning that the striker had put pen-to-paper on a new decade-long deal with the club, running until 2034.

The 24-year-old joined City from German side Borussia Dortmund in 2022, having netted 86 times in 89 games for the Bundesliga side.

Since moving to England, the Norwegian has scored 111 times in 126 games across all competitions, as well as registering 15 assists.

During his first season in England, the Norway international netted 36 times to break the record for the most goals in a single Premier League season, netting 52 times in all competitions.

He was instrumental in helping Pep Guardiola’s side to win the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup during the 2022/23 season, and scored 27 league goals as the Citizens defender their Premier League title last term.

Haaland is set to spend the next decade at Manchester City

This season, however, the striker has been one of a number of City stars that has struggled during the club’s dismal run of form.

Haaland has scored 16 goals in 21 Premier League games, but has netted just four times since the end of November.

The forward has previously been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, but his decision to sign a new contract could suggest he will be staying put for the foreseeable future.

Haaland has won six trophies since joining City – including two Premier League titles and the Champions League – as well as an array of individual awards including back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots.

The former Dortmund man has already put himself 15th on the list of Manchester City’s all-time top goal scorers, and he will have now have both that record and Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260 goals in his sights.
