Manchester City cruised into the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday thanks to a 4-1 aggregate win over German champions Bayern Munich.

The Citizens arrived in Bavaria for Wednesday night’s second leg with a 3-0 advantage in hand from the first leg in Manchester a week prior, and Pep Guardiola’s side progressed comfortably following a 1-1 draw in Munich.

Erling Haaland missed a first half penalty, much to the surprise of almost everyone inside the Allianz Arena, although the Norway international did soon grab his 48th goal of the season to put the visitors ahed after the break.

City kept their German opponents at bay for much of the two-legged tie, but Joshua Kimmich did grab a late consolation for Bayern late on courtesy of a penalty after Manuel Akanji had been penalised for handball.

Reigning champions Real Madrid await City in the last four, but Guardiola’s side will now turn their attention to the FA Cup, with a semi-final against Sheffield United up next on Saturday.

Following the quarter-final in Munich, one of City’s key players has addressed speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been the subject of intense speculation suggesting that he will join Barcelona this summer, but the player has now addressed the rumours and insisted that he hasn’t yet agreed a deal.

Gundogan looks likely to make his 300th City appearance this season

“Barcelona deal done? My future is not yet decided,” he told Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

“Obviously, there are talks in the background. But I won’t go into details now.

“I have not signed anything yet.”

The 32-year-old’s current City contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and there has so far been no indication that he will extend his stay with the club.

Gundogan, a 66-time Germany international, joined City from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and has since made 294 appearances for the club all competitions.

He has scored 54 goals and provided 38 assists for City in that time, as well as playing a key role in much of The Citizens’ recent success.

The midfielder has lifted no fewer than 11 trophies during his time at The Etihad, including four Premier League titles and the FA Cup.

Spanish giants Barcelona are set to be in the market for cheap signing this summer as they look to navigate a difficult financial situation, and Gundogan could be a perfect fit if he is available on a free transfer.
