Manchester bosses Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho look set to continue their managerial rivalry in the transfer market as the Manchester City boss looks to hijack the deal for United’s top defensive target.

According to reports from Portuguese outlet O Jogo, the Sky Blues are keen to weigh in on Manchester United’s move for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.

The Sweden international, who was on the verge of a move to Old Trafford in January, is a top target of Mourinho’s as he looks to continue the overhaul of his back line, however, it appears that his counterpart at the Etihad, Guardiola, has had the same idea.

As per the report, it was Guardiola himself who order his recruitment team to look into a move for the 22-year-old, who is also reportedly on the radar of Juventus, Roma, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Mourinho may still have the edge over his fierce rival, with the report claiming that the Red Devils have first refusal on any deal this summer.
