Premier League champions Manchester City will demand as much as £80 million for Bernardo Silva if the midfielder is targeted by Barcelona this summer.

As per The Mirror, the Portuguese could once again be the subject of interest from the La Liga side, 12 months after Barcelona first began their pursuit of the player.

Silva, 27, has three years remaining on his current City deal, but would have been allowed to leave for the right price last summer as Pep Guardiola granted the player’s request to be allowed to move to Spain for family reasons.

The Citizens were prepared to sell for £60 million back then, but Barcelona couldn’t find the funds and their failure to do so has now cost them, with the player’s price tag increasing after an impressive campaign.

Silva secured his fourth Premier League title last month

City are poised to price the club out of a deal, though, by demanding £80 million for the Portugal international, who joined from Monaco for £45 million five years ago.

Guardiola has already lost Fernandinho from his midfield after the Brazilian’s contract expired, and he will not want to lose another of his current crop without replacing them.

Silva has been instrumental to much of City’s success over the past five seasons, playing more than 250 times for the club since making the switch from Ligue 1.

In that time, he has scored 48 goals and provided 51 assists.
