Kompany of Man City celebrates after scoring against West Brom on the opening day.

After a fantastic start to the season, many thought Manchester City might cruise to this year’s Premier League title, but it has been anything but plain sailing since then.

The loss of Vincent Kompany to injury has proven to be nothing short of disastrous for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, with the 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool, and the 2-0 loss at Stoke, in particular standing out.

However, City’s Belgian captain could return for the vital clash at the Emirates against Arsenal on Monday night, and his leadership could be the key to making sure his team-mates are more solid than they have been recently, which will be especially imperative considering a top of the table clash with Leicester City is coming up on December 29.
