Arguably the result that helped announce Manchester City on the European stage, they got the better of Paris Saint Germain 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the Champions League earlier this year.

Manuel Pellegrini’s City won a tough group consisting of Juventus, Sevilla, and Borussia Monchengladbach, but lost both games to the former, before beating Dynamo Kiev in the last 16.

However, PSG was another step up and, after a shaky 2-2 draw in Paris, City improved ten-fold both defensively and offensively to deservedly secure a 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Joe Hart was excellent in the City goal while Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala had one of their better games in a City shirt, which allowed Kevin De Bruyne to net what turned out to be the winner 14 minutes from time.

It was City’s biggest win in Europe at the time, and would have no doubt given them a huge psychological boost going into this season’s competition.
