Manchester United face Romanian side FCSB in the final game of their Europa League group phase campaign on Thursday night.

Ruben Amorim’s side currently sit fourth in the 36-team table and are likely to book their place in the last 16 of the competition if they avoid defeat in Romania.

Domestically, the Red Devils returned to winning ways on Sunday night by beating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage, just their second win in seven Premier League games.

Amorim will be keen to bolster his squad before the end of the current transfer window, and it appears that the club have agreed a deal to sign a defender.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester club have reached an agreement with Italian outfit Lecce to sign left-back Patrick Dorgu.

United have been interested in the player for some time now, and Romano claims that a verbal agreement has now been reached with documents set to be checked and finalised in the coming days.

Dorgu could soon join Manchester United

Dorgu, 20, had agreed personal terms with the Premier League club several days ago, and the two clubs have now reached an agreement worth an initial £25 million plus a further £4.2 million in potential add-ons.

The young defender has played 57 times for Lecce across all competitions, having joined the club on loan as a teenager in 2022, before making the switch permanent the following year.

He will provide much needed competition at left-back in Amorim’s side, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having both struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons.

Denmark international Dorgu is contracted to his current side until 2029, but Romano claims that a full verbal agreement is now in place for United to sign the player before the end of the current window.

If a deal is finalised, the Dane will become Amorim’s first signing as Manchester United head coach.
