Manchester United will be hoping to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2016 when they face fierce rivals Manchester City in the final on Saturday.

The Red Devils, who have already lifted the Carabao Cup this term, will be hoping to end City’s pursuit of a treble when the two sides meet at Wembley.

Manager Erik ten Hag has enjoyed a fine debut campaign at Old Trafford, having guided his side to a third place finish in the Premier League table.

Now, it appears that United have been handed a huge boost ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

As per The Telegraph, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has agreed personal terms with United.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent months, and Old Trafford has emerged as his most likely destination of late.

The report claims that, having agreed terms with the player, United are now expected to reach an agreement with rivals Chelsea to land the player this summer.

Mount has been a fans’ favourite at Chelsea

Mount, 24, is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful youth academy and has been instrumental for the first team since making his debut in 2019.

In total, the midfielder has scored 33 goals and provided 37 assists in 195 appearances across all competitions, and has been named the club’s player of the season in two of the past three years.

His contract is set to expire next summer, though, and talks over an extension have failed to progress, prompting Chelsea to consider selling him this year.

Liverpool had also been linked with a move for Mount but it appears that the Englishman will be joining bitter rivals United, much to the frustration of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

It is also claimed that Chelsea have granted Mateo Kovacic permission to talk to Manchester City, with the Croatian said to be admired by Citizens manager Pep Guardiola.

The news signals the start of a significant overhaul at Stamford Bridge this summer, with new boss Mauricio Pochettino tasked with trimming the size of his squad.
