Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 17-year-old stopper, who has been called the ‘new Gianluigi Buffon’ in Italy, had been interesting the Premier League duo after becoming Milan’s number one choice between the sticks this season, but it is understood that he feels that he would have to prove himself again if he made the move to England.

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is looking for a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who is said to be considering a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer after a campaign that ended with a 10th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, there are still long-term doubts over the future of Red Devils keeper David De Gea despite the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager, with the Spain international linked with a return to La Liga with Real Madrid.
