Manchester United are bidding to beat Juventus in their attempts to land Portugal international Bernardo Silva this summer, according to Tuttosport (via the Metro).

The 13-time Premier League champions, who climbed up to fifth in the English top-flight standings after defeating Everton 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, are thought to have been keeping close tabs on the AS Monaco winger ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who has seven international caps for his country and could feature for Portugal at Euro 2016 later this year in France, has scored five goals and provided three assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit so far this season.

Silva, who is rated at around £16m by the French club, is also being targeted by defending Serie A champions Juve this summer as well.

The predominant right winger has scored 15 goals in 81 appearances for Monaco, including seven assists, since making his debut back in August 2014 following his switch from Benfica.
