Manchester United could reportedly go head-to-head with Juventus over their respective pursuits of trying to sign Portugal international Andre Gomes this summer, according to Marca (via the Express).

The 13-time Premier League champions, who drew 1-1 with newly crowned winners Leicester City inside Old Trafford on Sunday, have been linked with a move for Valencia’s highly-rated midfielder once the current 2015/16 campaign concludes.

The 22-year-old, who has five international caps and is expected to feature for Portugal at Euro 2016 later this year in France, has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

Gomes, who reportedly has a whopping £86m release clause in his current deal, could be sold by the Spanish side as the club will miss out on Champions League and Europa League football next term after a disappointing campaign.

However the report suggests that Valencia do not expect a potential suitor to fully meet the midfielder’s staggering buy-out clause.
