Manchester United have reportedly joined arch-rivals Liverpool in the race to sign Germany international Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League duo, who currently sit sixth and eighth in the standings respectively and play each other in their UEFA Europa League last-16 second-leg on Thursday night, are both interested in signing the FC Barcelona goalkeeper this summer.

The 23-year-old, who has four international caps for his country, has kept five clean sheets in 19 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga leaders so far this season.

Ter Stegen; who arrived at the Nou Camp from Borussia Monchengladbach back in May 2014 in a deal worth around £9.7m, is being targeted by United as a possible replacement for fellow shot stopper David De Gea, should be want to join Real Madrid at the end of the current 2015-16 campaign.

However the report also suggests that Spaniard De Gea has also become a transfer target for Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
