Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Wales international star Gareth Bale, according to Diario Gol.
The Premier League duo, who currently sit second and sixth in the top-flight standings respectively after the weekend’s latest results, have been linked with landing the Real Madrid forward next year.
The 28-year-old, who has 68 international caps for The Dragons, has scored three goals and provided five assists in 10 games in all competitions for the defending La Liga champions this season.
Bale, who moved to the Bernabeu from Spurs back in September 2013 following his then world record £85m switch, has netted 70 goals in 160 appearances overall for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
However, the report suggests Madrid are preparing to offload the Welshman in 2018, with former club Tottenham and rivals United fighting for his signature.
The Spanish side are likely to want to recoup most of the fee they paid for Bale over four years ago, starting with a price of around £80m.
