With 14 rounds of fixtures remaining of the Premier League season, Manchester United’s recent run of form is leading some to believe that The Red Devils could make a late title charge.

Erik ten Hag’s side currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, just five points behind leaders Arsenal, who have won just one of their last four league matches.

The two sides have already played each other twice this term, with both sides winning at their respective home grounds.

Now, though, it appears that Arsenal and United could be set to go head-to-head off the pitch this summer.

As per TalkSPORT, the two clubs are both on alert as Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram is set to leave the German side as a free agent this summer.

The Bundesliga side’s sporting director, Roland Virkus, confirmed that the player will depart the club at the end of the season.

“With Marcus Thuram, we stretched,” he told Sport1.

“We have to accept that it’s the even bigger clubs where Marcus might go.

“The fact that players will leave us for free is not a positive situation and I can’t sugarcoat it.”

Last month, the German side made Thuram available for as little as £8 million as they looked to recoup a fee for him rather than losing him for free this summer.

The France international failed to secure a move, though, and he will now leave his current employers as a free agent this summer.

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form for Monchengladbach this season, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in 22 games across all competitions.

He was also impressive for France at the World Cup in Qatar, providing two assists including one in the final against Argentina.

Chelsea were also said to be interested in Thuram last month and will likely be aware of the player’s situation, whilst Spanish giants Barcelona are also believed to be monitoring the French forward.

Since joining Monchengladbach from French side Guingamp in 2019, Thuram has scored a total of 42 goals in 124 games for the Bundesliga side across all competitions, as well as providing 26 assists.
