Arsenal can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points with a win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners currently sit five points clear of reigning champions Manchester City, who don’t play until Sunday.

The form of Mikel Arteta’s side, who failed to qualify for the Champions League last term, has surprised many people this season.

After 20 matches, The Gunners have won 16 and lost just twice, recording a club-record points tally of 50 at the halfway stage of a Premier League season.

Despite their impressive run, Arsenal look to be interested in new signings, and they are said to be one of three Premier League clubs monitoring a La Liga star.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati.

The 20-year-old Spaniard made headlines when he emerged in the first team at the Nou Camp as a 16-year-old back in 2019.

Fati has now made 89 senior appearances for Barcelona, scoring 25 goals and providing nine assists.

Fati is being monitored by a number of Premier League clubs

The forward, now 20, is contracted to the La Liga side until 2027, but he has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months and the trio of Premier League sides are said to be monitoring his situation ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

This term, the Spain international has only started seven league games for Barcelona, with the likes of Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele often preferred.

Despite struggling to maintain a regular starting spot at club level, Fati was included in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar last year.

The youngster made two appearances at the tournament, taking his tally to seven international caps.

Despite rumoured interest from the three Premier League sides, Romano claims that Barcelona remain intent on keeping hold of the winger for the foreseeable future.

He does, however, also claim the the remainder of the current campaign could be crucial to determining the player’s future.
