Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backed to make Sir Alex Ferguson type signing by bringing Jadon Sancho to the club this summer, according to ESPN FC

It has to go down as the transfer rumour of the summer, with almost daily speculation surrounding a potential switch for Sancho between Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United.

Of course, a big stumbling block has been the Coronavirus pandemic which has put so much uncertainty across the football industry as a whole.

There has then been the talk of the brilliant football United have been playing since the Premier League returned a few weeks ago and whether or not manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needed a player like Sancho.

Solskjaer has been rightly praised for the football being played by United.

But former Liverpool plater, Steve Nicol is backing the Red Devils to make the signing, stating that’s what Alex Ferguson used to do.

He said: “You know, the greatest manager of Man United ever had, Alex Ferguson, always had plenty of ammunition going forward, always. Particularly centre-forwards.

“So listen, if you buy Sancho now you’ve got some fantastic competition for that front three.

“Do you put [Marcus] Rashford down the middle and put Sancho on one wing and [Mason] Greenwood on the other?

“Or do you keep [Anthony] Martial in the middle, does Greenwood come off the bench?

“This is something that Fergie always had, he always had plenty of ammunition going forward.”
