Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slammed for letting Alexis Sanchez leave on loan to Inter Milan

Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has slammed Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for letting Alexis Sanchez leave on loan to Inter Milan, when speaking to Sportingbet. 

The Chilean striker Sanchez’s Red Devils career never got going, following his arrival from Arsenal in January 2018. Scoring just five goals across all competitions for the club.

Despite having a limited amount of strikers available, given the sell of Romelu Lukaku, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also allowed Sanchez to join Inter on loan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has just three strikers to choose from in Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and youngster Mason Greenwood.

With just three strikers available, extra pressure is on Marcus Rashford this season.

And with recent injuries to both Martial and Rashford it has left the Old Trafford side desperately short of firepower.

Some serious questions need to be asked on how United let both Lukaku and Sanchez leave without being replaced.

Danny Murphy shared his thoughts on the situation:

“There’s next to no strength and depth at the club, so there’s not much they can change. The pressure is starting to pile up on a select few players to deliver and that pressure increases after every loss.

“It was a big mistake letting Sanchez leave. He hadn’t had a great time at United, but I feel Mourinho played a big part in that and this could have been a fresh season for him.”

Adding: “He’s not a player that had to prove himself, everyone is aware what he can deliver when firing on all cylinders. In these situations, you need to have your experienced players in the changing room and Utd have lost two big figures in Sanchez and Lukaku, without replacing them.”
