Manchester United will be hoping to finish the Premier League season strongly by beating Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils secured their place in the top four and next season’s Champions League by beating Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday, and victory over the Cottagers will secure third place.

Erik ten Hag has enjoyed a superb debut season in charge of the club, having already lifted the Carabao Cup in February.

United also have the chance to do a domestic cup double by beating rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at the start of June.

Now, Ten Hag has suggested that United could soon be given another huge boost.

Speaking ahead of the game against Fulham, Ten Hag said he is confident that forward Marcus Rashford will sign a new contract with the club.

Speaking to Viaplay, the former Ajax boss insisted that Rashford will most likely sign a new deal.

“I expect Marcus Rashford to renew,” he said.

“He wants it. Manchester United wants it. He is a child of this club, so I assume this will happen.”

Rashford, 25, scored his 30th goal of the season in all competitions when netting United’s fourth against Chelsea last time out.

Rashford has scored 30 goals across all competitions so far this term

The England international has enjoyed by far his most prolific goal scoring season to date, and by doing so became the first United player to reach 30 goals in a season since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.

The star’s current contract is set to expire next summer, though, which casts slight doubts over his Old Trafford future.

Despite this, it appears that his manager is confident that Rashford will agree an extension and commit his long-term future to the club.

In total, Rashford has scored 123 goals and provided 68 assists in 357 matches for his boyhood club.

According to 90min, though, United are still intent on signing a new striker during the upcoming transfer window, with loanee Wout Weghorst set to return to parent club Burnley.

The Netherlands international joined United from the Clarets in January as Ten Hag searched for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Dutchman is yet to score in the league for United.
