Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is still keen to bolster his squad before the start of the new season.

The Red Devils have already signed midfielder Mason Mount from rivals Chelsea, but they are yet to find a striker to replace Wout Weghorst, who has returned to parent club Burnley after a loan spell at Old Trafford.

Despite adding Mount to their ranks, it appears that United are still hoping to sign at least one more midfielder before the window slams shut.

According to TalkSPORT, United are monitoring Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The 26-year-old was in fine form for the Italian side last term, and also helped Morocco to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar last December.

He played every single minute of all seven games that Morocco faced at the tournament, including wins over both Spain and Portugal.

Amrabat was linked with several clubs, including United, during the January transfer window but ultimately stayed put in Tuscany.

Amrabat is said to be a target for Manchester United

Last term, the Morocco international made a total of 49 appearances across all competitions for Fiorentina, helping his side to an eighth-placed finish in the Italian top flight.

The former Club Brugge man also played a key role as Fiorentina reached the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League, before being beaten by West Ham United in Prague.

The Moroccan joined Fiorentina from fellow Serie A side Hellas Verona back in January 2020, but spent the following six months on loan at his former side.

In total he has played 107 times for his current side, but his contract is set to expire next summer which could tempt his current employers in to selling him this summer rather than losing him for free in 12 months.

Fiorentina paid around £15 million to sign Amrabat from Verona three years ago.
