Manchester United closing in on £16m deal for Austria centre-half

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the £16m signing of Austria international defender Aleksandar Dragovic, according to the Daily Express.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who drew 3-3 at Newcastle United on Tuesday night, are poised to complete the signing of the Dynamo Kiev centre-half within the forthcoming days.

The 24-year-old; who has 38 international caps for his country, has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Ukrainian top-flight outfit this season, scoring once in their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League back in November.

After conceding three goals at St James’ Park earlier in midweek, United boss Louis van Gaal is thought to be keen on strengthening his defensive ranks this January transfer window, with a £16m deal for Dragovic set to kick start the Dutchman’s recruitment process.
