Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

It was announced on Thursday that the Cameroonian had completed a move to Old Trafford, signing a contract until 2028.

Onana has been heavily linked with a move to United – and a reunion with former boss Erik ten Hag – for several weeks, but the deal has now finally been completed.

The 27-year-old joins United after spending just one season in Italy, having joined the Serie A side from Ajax last summer.

During his one season in Milan, Onana made a total of 41 appearances across all competitions, keeping 19 clean sheets.

The goalkeeper played a pivotal role for Inter as they reached the final of the Champions League, although he was unable to prevent the Italian side from suffering a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City.

He did, however, add a Coppa Italia medal to the three Eredivisie titles that he won with former club Ajax, under the management of United boss Erik ten Hag.

The pair spent five years together in Amsterdam, winning three league titles and three domestic cups before they both departed last summer.

Onana has signed a long-term contract with United

Onana will become the Red Devils’ first choice ‘keeper following David de Gea’s departure earlier this month.

The Spaniard departed United following the expiry of his contract – ending a 12-year spell in Manchester – but United have acted quickly to find a new first choice ‘keeper.

In February 2021, Onana was banned from all football for 12 months after testing positive for a banned substance, but his suspension was later reduced to nine months.

He then moved to Italy in the summer of 2022, having made more than 210 appearances for Ajax across all competitions.

During his time in the Dutch capital, the Cameroon international kept 85 clean sheets, including 60 in 148 Eredivisie matches.
