Manchester United are reportedly confident about signing Brazil international forward Willian, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who finished second in the English top-flight standings last term, have been strongly linked with making an offer for the Chelsea winger this summer.

The 29-year-old, who has 62 international caps for his country, scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 55 appearances in all competitions for The Blues last season.

Willian, who arrived at Stamford Bridge back in August 2013 following his reported £30m move from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, has netted 44 goals in 236 games overall for the club.

Following Brazil’s exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, after their 2-1 defeat to Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday night, the report suggests United are confident of landing the Chelsea forward in a deal worth around £60m.

The Samba star is manager Jose Mourinho’s number one transfer target this summer, as the ‘Special One’ looks to seal a reunion with Willian, following their time together at Chelsea.

However, The Red Devils will face stiff competition to sign the Brazilian ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, with La Liga champions FC Barcelona also keen on landing Willian, who played in all five of Brazil’s World Cup fixtures in Russia this summer.

United have signed right-back Diogo Dalot from FC Porto for £19m, midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52m and goalkeeper Lee Grant (Stoke City) on a free transfer so far this transfer window.
