Manchester United are reportedly preparing an offer for Sweden international star Emil Forsberg, according to Calciomercato.

The Premier League side, who finished sixth in the English top-flight standings last term, but lifted the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup, have been freshly linked with a move for the highly-rated RasenBallsport Leipzig winger this summer.

The 25-year-old, who has 27 international caps for his country, scored eight goals and provided an impressive 22 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit last season.

Forsberg, who joined the German side from Malmo back in January 2015, has netted 16 times and registered 33 assists overall for RB Leipzig.

Sweden’s Emil Forsberg.

Having grown frustrated with his pursuit of Croatia and Inter Milan wideman Ivan Perisic, the report suggests United manager Jose Mourinho is looking at alternative transfer targets, with the Swedish star very much on the ‘Special One’s’ radar.

The Red Devils are understood to have contacted the midfielder’s lawyer about a potential switch to Old Trafford, ahead of a potential £44.6m bid.
