Manchester United could hijack Chelsea’s pursuit of Bosnia and Herzegovina international Miralem Pjanic this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 13-time Premier League champions, who take on West Brom on Sunday afternoon, have also become interested in the AS Roma midfielder’s services come the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
The 25-year-old, who has 65 international caps for his country, has scored an impressive 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.
Pjanic; who cost the Italian club a reported €11m back in August 2011 following his move from Ligue 1 side Lyon, will not be featuring in this year’s 2016 UEFA European Championships following Bosnia’s play-off defeat, opening the door for both the Blues and Red Devils to firm their interest with solid bids this summer.
The central midfielder has netted 29 goals in 176 games for Roma, including 43 assists.
Real Madrid ace Toni Kroos is thought to be United boss Louis van Gaal’s top target come the end of the season, but Pjanic is being lined up as an alternative choice according to the report.
