Manchester United travel to face German champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils arrive in Bavaria in poor form having won just two of their five Premier League matches so far this season, leaving them 12th in the table.

Bayern, meanwhile, have been boosted by the arrival of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur over the summer and will undoubtedly provide a stern test for Erik ten Hag’s side.

The Dutchman was dealt another blow over the weekend as full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was ruled out for several weeks after suffering an injury during United’s defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Ten Hag will therefore have several big decisions to make ahead of their game in Munich, but in the meantime it appears that he could be willing to sell one of his players in January.

As per Football Insider, United could sell midfielder Scott McTominay when the transfer window reopens, in an effort to raise funds.

McTominay could depart Old Trafford in January

McTominay, 26, has made more than 210 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions but has primarily played a bit-part role throughout his time at Old Trafford.

The Scot’s chances of featuring regularly this season were further hindered by the arrivals of both Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat.

Last season the Scotland international made 39 appearances for United, but he has started just one of their five Premier League games so far this term.

The report claims that McTominay generated interest from a number of Premier League sides during the recent transfer window, and German champions Bayern Munich have recently been linked with a shock move for the player.

United could sell the midfielder in an effort to generate funds for further investment, having spent heavily over the summer, the report claims.

McTominay is currently contracted to United until the summer of 2025.
