Manchester United are making progress in their efforts to sign FC Porto defender Alex Telles, according to reports.

United made a poor start to the Premier League season on Saturday, losing 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

The defeat highlighted the need for more new faces to be brought into the squad with goalscorer Donny van de Beek the only addition to date.

According to A Bola (via the Daily Star), the Old Trafford outfit have made ‘concrete progress’ in the chase to sign Telles.

Van de Beek celebrates his debut goal in the defeat against Palace.

It’s reported that the Brazilian, who would cost around £18.3million, is set to quadruple his wages if he moves to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The 27-year-old has just a year left on his contract and would provide competition to Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams.

Last season, Telles registered an impressive 13 goals and 12 assists in all competitions from left-back.
