Manchester United’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages hang by a thread after they drew 3-3 against Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

The Red Devils started the penultimate round of fixtures bottom of Group A but rushed into an early 2-0 lead in Turkey, before the hosts pulled one back through Hakim Ziyech.

Erik ten Hag’s side then extended their advantage courtesy of Scott McTominay, but Galatasaray scored twice more to draw level and leave United in a desperate situation heading into the final round of games.

The Manchester outfit need to beat Bayern Munich, and hope Copenhagen draw against Galatasaray, if they are to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

In the meantime, it appears that United have been assessing potential transfer targets ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

According to Mercato via The Express, Manchester United have made an enquiry about Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy.

Guirassy has been in sensational form in recent months

The 27-year-old has started the current season in remarkable form, scoring 15 goals in ten Bundesliga matches so far.

Guirassy joined Stuttgart from French side Rennes over the summer, having scored 11 goals in 15 league outings while on loan at the German outfit last season.

Despite his sensational record so far this term, Guirassy is said to have a release clause in his current contract that is set at just £15.1 million.

The report claims that, while United have declared an interest, they are yet to table an offer for the Guinea international.

United’s interest in Guirassy comes despite the club having signed Rasmus Hojlund from Italian club Atalanta over the summer, for a fee in the region of £72 million.

Since arriving in Manchester, the Denmark international has failed to score in the Premier League, although he has impressed in the Champions League.
