AC Milan are reportedly open to re-signing former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to The Sun.

The Serie A giants, who finished sixth in the Italian top-flight in 2016-17, but have spent heavily this transfer window in a bid to reduce the whopping 28-point margin between themselves and champions Juventus from last term, have been linked with welcoming the Sweden legend back to the San Siro.

The 35-year-old, who earned 116 caps for his country before retiring from international duty following UEFA Euro 2016, scored 28 goals and provided 10 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions for Premier League side United last season.

Ibrahimovic, who has also played for the likes of Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, was released by The Red Devils towards the end of the previous campaign, having sustained a serious knee injury, which he still hasn’t fully recovered from.

Manager Jose Mourinho has been linked with re-signing the Swedish star during the 2018 January transfer window.

However, the report suggests Milan sporting director Massimo Mirabelli has left the door open for Ibrahimovic to return to the Italian giants instead, for whom he netted 56 goals in 85 games between 2010 and 2012.
