Manchester United moved a step closer to achieving qualification for next season’s Champions League by beating Bournemouth 1-0 on Saturday.

Casemiro’s early goal was enough to earn the Red Devils all three points, and Erik ten Hag’s side now need just one more point to ensure they finish in the top four of the Premier League and in turn qualify for Europe’s top club competition.

This summer looks set to be a busy one at Old Trafford, with Ten Hag keen to bolster his squad ahead of next term.

A number of players have been linked with a move to the Manchester outfit, but it appears that they could be facing competition from a Premier League rival in their pursuit of one target.

As per Football Insider, Brighton and Hove Albion are set to rival United for the signing of Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.

The Italian has been in fine from this season, making 37 appearances across all competitions.

Frattesi is said to be a target for both Manchester United and Brighton this summer

United did sign central midfielders Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer, but the futures of both Fred and Scott McTominay remain uncertain and Ten Hag is therefore keen to add to his options in midfield.

Brighton are considering a move for the 23-year-old as they consider potential replacements for Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, who could both leave The Amex this summer.

Frattesi has scored seven goals so far this season and has played in all 36 of Sassuolo’s Serie A matches, helping his side to 13th place in the table at present.

The Italy international joined his current side from the youth setup at Roma in 2017 and has since spent time on loan with Ascoli, Empoli and Monza.

In total, he has made 76 senior appearances across all competitions for his current side, but his form hasn’t gone unnoticed and he is increasingly attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
