Manchester United have had a headline catching summer window with the signings of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, with just hours of the window remaining, it seems the Red Devils were keen to bring another well known face through the door.

According to Sport1 (via the Daily Star), United submitted a bid of £18m for Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier.

But it’s reported the La Liga champions have ‘turned down’ the offer, meaning the England international looks set to stay in the Spanish capital.

Trippier has been linked with a Premier League return.

Trippier played a key part in helping Atletico win the league last term as he played in 28 matches.

The former Tottenham defender made the move to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium from Spurs in 2019.

It’s thought United wanted to add the 30-year-old to their squad in order to provide competition for first-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
